Friends of Fawley Church
The Friends joined together in 2021 to save from closure the church of St Mary the Virgin, a Grade II-listed building in the centre of the village of Fawley. Two years on, following an ambitious reordering project our beloved ancient church has become a building fit for life in the twenty-first century and beyond.
The church continues to serve as a house of worship but has also become a welcoming space for community events,
for people of all ages, and accessible to all.
Community Space
The idea to create a more welcoming entrance to the church with a brand new kitchen, smart WC and an expanded gallery was a dream come true! With space for tables and chairs, hosting of a regular café, meetings, activities and events, we are able to provide these wonderful facilities for the local community. New modern lighting and heating, a proper sound system along with Wi-Fi have been installed.
Money was raised from donations, fundraising initiatives and grant applications to make this happen, resulting in a warm well-lit space to be enjoyed throughout the year.
