Friends of Fawley Church
The Friends joined together in 2021 to save from closure the church of St Mary the Virgin, a Grade II-listed building in the centre of the village of Fawley. Our aim is to steer our beloved ancient church through an ambitious
reordering project to make it a building fit for life in the twenty-first century and beyond.
The church will continue to serve as a house of worship but also be a welcoming space for community events
for people of all ages, of every or no denomination and accessible to all.

Our project
The idea is to create a more welcoming entrance to the church with a loo and kitchen and expanded gallery. We will also remove some pews to create space for new tables and comfortable stacking chairs to host a regular café, meetings and other activities and events. At the same time modern lighting, heating arrangements, a proper sound system and wi-fi will also be installed.
The money is being raised from donations, fundraising initiatives and grant applications. The result will be a warm and well-lit space to enjoy throughout the year and bring the church into today’s world.
